Now I like workwear. A controversial statement from a man employed by a workwear company I know. Perhaps I should qualify that statement; workwear is important in terms of cost, durability and safety. Lets just say if you or your employees are not equipped with the right workwear, or even any workwear, there could be trouble ahead. But what is workwear?

Maybe it’s best to start with a definition of “workwear” (please imagine the pretentious double quotation mark hand signals being made as I describe the word). “Workwear” what exactly is it? It’s an ubiquitous term that you can find all over the web including all over our website. I guess its time for a definition so to quote Wikipedia. 

“ Workwear is clothing worn for work, especially work that involves manual labour. Often those employed within various trade industries elect to be outfitted in various forms of workwear because it is built to provide greater durability and safety.”*

That’s it in a nutshell, I mean you could think of a few other attributes to build around that definition. Maybe there’s room for footwear somewhere in that definition. Safety equipment might also be part of the workwear environment. Essentially though, as with many things in life, Wikipedia has got it covered.

 So does that definition apply to you? Or to employees? Friends? Family members?

 As I said it’s an ubiquitous definition, but then it’s an ubiquitous product. How many of us use or own workwear. I do, I help out in the warehouse when we are busy. A frequent occurrence at Brookes. I often wear a logo’d corporate polo shirt, I’ve even been known to wear a logo’d shirt and tie.
