A little birdie tells me that 2014 isn’t going to be a shy year as far as the fashion business is concerned, with designers across the board revamping retro looks (are the 80s back in style then?) and tweaking classic shapes to reflect the lifestyles of today, but what has this to do with womens workwear I hear you say?

Well it would appear that fashion is going to be celebrating the knack of dressing with purpose and refinement. Women are going to be offered the chance to relax a little bit more in the office with traditional elements being given looser fits, while still retaining that smart look with classic collars and pointed toe shoes being brought to the fore. In addition, the influences of African and Asian cultures are widespread with the use of beads, organic shapes giving rise to motifs on some clothes that can only be described as vibrant. Whereas black and white in workwear is always going to stand the test of time in the work environment bold is the way to go this year at least with printed pants and bold blocked shirts and blouses.

We have all seen Miley and the various impersonators swinging naked sat on a wrecking ball but in the office it would appear the opposite is the case as hemlines are staying below the knee as the preferred statement of professional appearance, but being fashionable at the same time.

Men are seeing some changes too with softer angles on the classic suit and a more relaxed fit. Those in the know are clear that tradition is important, especially in the work environment, but realize that it isn’t always practical to be a stiff shirt all of the time.

Being bright yet professional appears to the name of the game in 2014 and here at Brookes, the home of workwear we have a great range of colours and styles that fit this requirement so the womens workwear on offer is fashionable as well as being of the highest quality and at a price to suit everyone’s budget.
